Vidian artery (artery of the pterygoid canal) connecting the internal maxillary artery with the internal carotid artery

Case #1

Case #1a

Lateral internal carotid angiogram demonstrating a juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma. The vidian artery is seen to originate from the petrous internal carotid and supply the mass. Branches of the ophthalmic artery also supply the angiofibroma.

Case #1b

Lateral external carotid angiogram. Connection between the middle meningeal artery and ophthalmic artery is demonstrated.

Case#1c

AP internal carotid angiogram with opacification of the enlarged vidian artery leading into the angiofibroma.  There is collateral filling of the middle meningeal artery.
