Infraorbital artery to ophthalmic artery anastomosis

Case #1

Case #1

Lateral left common carotid angiogram

The infraorbital artery arises from the internal maxillary artery and traverses the inferior orbital fissure. Muscular, palpebral and naso-orbital branches of the infraorbital artery can anastomose with the ophthalmic artery. The unmarked arrows in this example likely represent muscular collaterals. These anastomoses usually pass through the inferior orbital fissure.
