Normal variants: Inferior thyroid artery origin from vertebral artery

Unusual origin of inferior thyroid artery from vertebral artery (normal origin from thyrocervical trunk)

Right innominate artery angiogram demonstrates a normal common carotid artery and subclavian artery.  The inferior thyroid artery originates from the vertebral artery (arrow).  This normal variant has been reported in up to 0.8% of cases.
